The meeting together with the students was attended by Rector of the Academy of telecommunications - Petro Petrovych Vorobienko, Director of Education Department in ODA - Galina Olexandrivna Ponomareva, a representative of the National Council on Television and Radio in the Odessa region and a graduate of the Academy of Telecommunications - Olexandr Vasylyovych Salabai and CEO of leading national telecommunications provider in Ukrainian "Volya" - George Zhemberi.
"We are proud to be the first in Ukraine for the preparation and employment of our staff. This contributed to the achievement of several important factors: first - the desire for continuous development, the second - a fruitful cooperation with the leaders of the telecommunications market such as “Volya”. Through our partnership, students of ONAT have the unique opportunity to work with the latest technologies and equipment, which is used to provide digital television services and high-speed Internet access not only in our country but in the world "- says Petro Petrovych Vorobienko, Rector of Odessa National Academy of Telecommunications named after O. S Popov.
During the meeting, Rector of the Academy Petro Petrovych awarded George Zhemberi with the Medal "for charitable activity" of the II degree.
The Academy status as one of the best in Ukraine is the result of high standards of scientific and educational activities and vocational training. The ONAT lecturers are actively involved in the development of new projects to improve the quality of communication - at both the national and international levels. Thus, the result of fruitful cooperation with the Radio communication Sector of the International Telecommunication Union on behalf of the Administration of telecommunications in Ukraine was prepared and presented more than 270 scientific developments that have been recognized internationally. It rightly makes the academy one of the lawmakers at telecommunications market. ONAT graduates have been working in the largest telecommunications companies in Ukraine and all over the world.
"As a leader in digital entertainment “Volya” cooperates with leading universities of the country, investing in innovation and the development of technical education and gives young professionals the first experience. A joint project of ONAT is a good example of partnership between the two leaders. Our goal is the formation of competitive human resources to the telecommunications industry in Ukraine and the world. The “Volya’s” program of professional development for 15 ONAT graduates who were trained in the company, and some of them successfully build their career in the strong team,” - says George Zhemberi, CEO of “Volya”.
For the Guests was also organized a tour round the Academy - one of the oldest universities of the country, where at one time studied well-known scientists - laureates of the State Prize of Ukraine in Science and Technology - Victor Korol’ and Volodymyr Timofeyev, vice-rector of the ONAT - Oleg Bondarenko, rector of ONAT - Petro Vorobienko, one of the first TV designers - Joseph Gonorovsky and many others.
Today in the walls of ONAT students learn practical technologies of digital TV standards based on DVB-C (digital TV) and OTT (interactive TV) and high-speed Internet access using modern technology DOCSIS.
